I was born in southwestern Pennsylvania. In 1999, I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BFA in graphic design and moved to Pittsburgh. I quit my job on Valentine’s Day 2007, and began freelancing full-time.

I am the co-creator of the Afrodisiac, Street Angel, and PLAIN Janes graphic novels, and the USApe web comic series. I have made comics for Marvel Entertainment, New York magazine, DC Comics, VH1, Dark Horse Comics, McSweeney’s, Smirnoff, Image Comics, and Harcourt. My work has been honored in Communications Arts Illustration Annual, Print Regional Design Annual, AIGA’s 50 Books/50 Covers, American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators Annual, and the Best American Comics series. In 2010, I received the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Mini-Comic for Rambo 3.5. In 2011, Afrodisiac was nominated for five Glyph Comic Awards (recognizing the best comics made by, for, and about people of color) and an Eisner Award and I participated in the Creative Capital Professional Development Program as part of Pittsburgh’s Flight School Fellowship Program.
