Remembering Dylan Williams

Posted on Sep 12, 2011 in misc

I met Dylan at SPACE, a small press comics show in Columbus, ten years ago. Over the years, we became friends. I admired his knowledge of comics and often sought out his input when I had questions about some artist or other. The more we talked, the more I appreciated his attitude and feedback. He was the least judgmental person I know, a trait that made him easy to talk with. He was very generous with his time and spent many hours listening to me whine and moan about my stupid personal crap (but also about awesome genre movies and old comics). I’m not sure I’d still be making comics if it weren’t for Dylan’s patience, encouragement, and example.

I suspect he had a lot of friends like me. But I didn’t have any friends like Dylan. He changed the way I see the world. Comics will not be the same for me without him. His impact as an artist, publisher, teacher, historian, and distributor is undeniable.
